I started by taking an intro class at M J Lallo's studio in Burbank. One of the best decisions I've ever made! M J is great! Warm, funny, encouraging, honest, and best of all, a trained, working voice actor herself. She's amazing. I loved the one night intro class so much that I scraped together my pennies and plunked a payment for the beginning commercial class, and last night I completed her intermediate class!
I've also started gathering the pieces I need to do home-recorded auditions. A USB mic, mic stand with boom arm and pop screen, headphones, music stand and my laptop from work now make up my own recording studio!
So that's my intro into voice overs and being a voice actor. I'll share a lot more later about how to find classes, make a demo, the right equipment to look for and how my marketing goes. And...that's a wrap!
